We would like to thank all parents who took time out of their public holiday today to attend our Assessment Coffee Morning!
The session started with Ms. Maiya explaining how to interpret the standardised IOWA assessment data which was sent home with report cards last week for students in Grades 2-6.
After identifying and seeing some examples of different kinds of assessment (pre-assessment, formative assessment and summative assessments) we talked about the need for students to be able to answer three important questions:
- Where am I going?
- How am I doing?
- What are my next steps?
Students from grades 4, 5 and 6 shared how they use success criteria and learning intentions in the form of the SOLO Taxonomy to help them answer these questions(see our previous post on how we use the SOLO Taxonomy
here).
